Ok, so Barack "Satellite Dishes for Ears" Obama and the Pie Thief visits England and from what I hear they committed a few faux pas. Michelle touched the queen or something and Jug-ears gave her majesty an iPod with pictures and videos.

Holy crap, if you read the right-o-sphere, you'd think Michelle held down the queen while Obama dry humped her before stabbing her in the neck.

People, please. The Coke Snorter In Chief (well, that used to be a problem, but I guess not any more) is running the economy into the ground. His administration is, for all intents and purposes, reinstating slavery. The AG, even after being resoundingly told "No, do not try another AWB" is simply looking for other ways to ask the question until he get's an "OK". The raw, naked power grab is right there for everyone to see.

Instead, the starboard-side of the blogosphere is focusing on his Teleprompterness' misspeaks and gaffes, just like the left did for Bush. Gee, I didn't see that happening.

About the Queen – who gives a leaping shit about touching her? She's a human being like you and I. She doesn't shit marshmallow creme pies and turn everything she touches into soft Corinthian leather. We're Americans and that means we can give royalty the respect they deserve – NONE.

So the Occupier-In-Thief (boy, is that fun or what? I love being the loyal opposition!) gave her an odd gift. So what he screwed up the DVDs. Yes, it shows how over his head he is (although you could use those ears as life rafts for a family of 7), but the real problem is far beyond little gaffes like this.

This administration, whether through intent or incompetence, is running this country straight towards a socialist hell and giving out wrong region DVDs is the least of our concerns.

Perspective, people. Please!

The Queen is more than just a person, she is the symbolic head of the government of England and the Commonwealth.

And just like the flag or any other symbol, there is a protocol do ensure proper respect is given to something that means more than what it actually is. One does not allow a flag to touch the ground, and one does not touch HRH.

To do so is to not show respect to someone or something that means so much to so many.

I'd like to offer a different viewpoint if I may.

The media is doing with Obama exactly what they did with Clinton. They're sensationalizing the trivial, piddly crap that rouses the (m)asses but won't amount to anything, ever (ZOMG! He got a hummer from a chubby intern! OH NOES. We'll ignore selling missile-guidance computers and software to the Chinese in exchange for campaign ca$h).

That way, it gets the right-wing freepers all frothing at the mouth and occupied with the poo-flinging, so that when something important goes down - like, say, the impending collapse of GM ever after we threw billions at them - it gets caught up in the "outrage overflow" and written off as "*sigh*, yet more manufactured outrage from the right."

This ain't the right side's issue, other than certain folks on the right are pouncing on any and all gaffes. This is the media once again covering for a leftist president...

Just a thought.

Yesterday, the Better Half had the Today Show on. I didn't see very much of the show, but even I managed to catch about 20 minutes of discussion about what Mrs. O might be wearing. I think they did several minutes on just whether or not she would go sleeveless, complete with video footage of her and former first ladies in various sleeveless moments.

Yup, that there is journalism.

Of course, I can understand it, what with us going through such a slow news period and all.
