CompUSA has 4 Gigs of DDR2 memory for $19.95 (after $25 rebate)

I already have 4 gig in my system and two slots still available. Yes, it's 64 bit so I can support up to 128GB of memory (Vista limitation). Which, technically speaking I could buy for $384…

Back in '94, I spent $40 for a 1 meg stick of memory (and you had to buy them in pairs).

I worked at CompUSA back in the day. My first build was in '93/'94. About $50/MB for RAM. And about a buck a meg for a hard drive (I splurged on a 500MB). At the time it was a humdinger of a DX4-100, let me tell ya! I was the envy of all DOOM players.

4 Gig for 20 bucks is just sick. I think back on that 500MB hard drive all the time. Now I can spend less than $300 on Newegg and get myself a 120GB solid state drive. Ugh.

back in '81 or '82 I bought a 5kb memory expansion for $80 that doubled what the machine had (Vic20). Some time later I bought a Kaypro 10, which had a 10mb hard drive, which I thought no "normal" person would ever be able to fill up...

10mb is about what my personal daily memory loss is now...

All CompUSA's in GA are gone now too. Also, I would check the MotherBoard specs before buying. Alot of Desktop MotherBoards (unless it is server class)still only support 4 or 8GB max. Even if there are avilable slots. I bought a new MB from newegg about 4 months ago and it only supported 4GB. I ended up selling it to get another one that supported 8GB, in order to do what I wanted with building a VMWare box. I see some now that support up to 24GB.
