Why bother with critical thought when you can just make a blanket rule?

Is a BB gun a firearm?

That's the issue the Park, Beach and Recreation Commission is wrestling with, after receiving a request by local Scouting leaders to allow BB guns at a summer camp in Eisenhower Park.

The regulations for the 171-acre Webb Mountain Park in Monroe are clear: "Weapons of any kind, including firearms, air guns, archery, paint ball guns and martial arts implements, are prohibited.''

Dan Marazita of the Boy Scouts' Connecticut Yankee Council said boys attending a summer day camp have an archery range, and the council would like to offer target practice with BB guns alongside it.

BB guns folks. Spring fired BB guns.

Recreation commissioner Patrick Dooling said that state law specifically classifies BB guns as dangerous weapons.

And I specifically classify any idiot who agrees with that a orangutan humping butt plow. Can you shoot someone's eye out with it? Sure. I could poke it out with a stick from a tree too but I don't see those being classified as assault saplings.

Both ranges would be shielded by a Kevlar screen from the rest of the park, he said. The council would own the BB guns and would store them off-site when not in use, Marazita told the city park commission.

They'll be locked, have the barrels removed, and any round pieces of metal within an 8 mile radius will be trucked north to Ottowa.  Holy shit, folks, these are BB guns. Safety is important, but a trunk is all that's needed.

BB guns, folks. For Boy Scouts. They have to literally beg for permission because it looks like a scary gun.
