The Mrs. and I were planning on redoing our bathroom. That would have meant purchasing tile, grout, paint, cabinets, sinks (we've got two), new shower fixtures, lighting, wires, switches covers, new doors, and then the labor to get the job done (I'd do it, but I'm not skilled enough with scissors, much less a trowel).
The more President Big-Ears talks, the more I'm considering just socking that money away someplace less likely to get taken over by the government. Instead of helping the economy out, I'm thinking about cashing it out, buying gold, and digging a hole somewhere since that appears to be a safer bet.
Socialism fails each and every time it is implemented. According to Newsweek, we're no longer free men and women living in a constitutionally limited republic, but slaves to an all powerful oligarchy and we should just get used to it.
There's no longer a mask to let slip. Our rulers (and yes, that is how they see themselves) do not care if their phone lines are slammed with 7 to 1 opposition to the Grand Theft Bill of 2009, they're going to pass it anyway. The populace was warned of the impending socialism and they voted for it anyway. Those in power have nothing to lose any more and can buy their way into power with ease and no fear of being held accountable for it.
I don't think for a moment that McCain would have stabbed us in the back any more gently.
Even if in 2 years the Republicans (*spit*) take the reigns, they've shown that they're no better than the Democrats. They're acting all "smaller government" now, but it's nothing more than an attempt to get the power for themselves.
Now I hear that my doctor will be under orders to provide the 'correct' care for me, as if a bureaucracy that can't even keep the roads paved will able to accurately keep me and my family healthy. Maybe I should start an underground medical system where I could exchange top notch medical services for goods, unrestrained by what the government thinks is 'correct'!
