I don't think Obama is the antichrist. I don't think he is an evil man insofar as he knows right from wrong and wishes to do wrong. I think the man wants power because he thinks he knows what's best for everyone.
The end result, however, is not something I wish to see. I don't wish Obama luck or good will or any such platitudes because I don't want to see what he wants for us to come true. I fear what he thinks is best for us because it removes my say so in the matters that pertain to my life.
Healthcare - There will be a push for universal healthcare. Obama would sign it in a heartbeat. The problem is that to fund UHC, you have to tax me more than I already am. Plus, to make the system work, you'll have to remove my options for personal healthcare. Universal doesn't allow people to make the decisions that best suit them, it requires that all submit to the same system.
Firearms - It doesn't matter if self defense against those who would initiate force or fraud against you is a basic human tenet (the source of the force / fraud can be criminals or governments), this is not something the incoming administration is going to allow to continue. Self reliance means not accepting the premise that the government is responsible for your every last need and a self-reliant people would have no need for expanding the powers of the president.
So, instead of a full frontal assault, it will be a divide and conquer technique. Pit the ideologically pure against the non-pure. Then the hunters against the target shooters. The reloaders against the box-buyers. The bench resters against the freehanders. Find a way to make ammo too expensive to buy, too dangerous legally to make, and impossible to use without breaking at least a thousands laws. Breed safe criminals that pose no threat to the government so they can continually take away those who would oppose them off the street while declaring them 'dangerous'.
There won't be door to door confiscations. There won't need to be. Chew on that one for a while...
Taxes - Obama will cry "tax breaks" which will lure the RINOs into it like a moth to a bug zapper. Instead, the breaks will be for those not paying as it is and placing a harder burden on people like me. If it goes the way it looks like it's going to, my wife will have to give up her job (which helps abused children) because we'd lose more in taxes than she could bring in.
With the increase in taxes on those who produce, you will see a downturn in the economy even from where it is today followed by increased calls to allow the government to control more and more.
However, the bread and circuses will still be provided and in 4 years the excuse will be that the Republicans and Bush (which he wasn't a part of) screwed things up so bad that it's going to take decades to repair.
The Media - I'm glad to a point that the media is no longer covering up its biases but disheartened that people don't seem to care. It's going to be difficult to fight the Obama-Media-Rah-Rah-Machine. Look for bailouts to keep the media afloat.
I could go on, but it's depressing. A McCain presidency would have been bad too, just not as overt, so it's not like things could have been better. Again, if we realized what freedom meant and what it entails, who was in office wouldn't matter much, if at all. But it's the increase in Americans that rely on the government to protect them and keep them employed, safe, and entertained that cause this problem, not Obama himself.
I wish him no personal ill, but I do wish his ideas harm and will do my best to educate the masses why they are bad for all of us.
