Here's a heartwarming tale of SWAT being called out to harass provide safety for law abiding citizens who have the temerity to practice being free men and women
At the board meeting today, Orange County deputies searched gun-rights supporters, especially those wearing CCW buttons, according to those who attended the meeting. Although Sheriff Sandra Hutchens said she would let the permits expire rather than revoke them, her real disdain for freedom is shown by the presence of the SWAT team and the heavyhanded searches of law-abiding residents who wanted to attend the board meeting. Did the sheriff really think that gun supporters are somehow dangerous. I’ve been to gun shows and gun events and have never felt safer.
Nice. Good to know they were there protecting against... whatever they were there for. Luckily, crime was completely at a standstill elsewhere and their services were surely not needed.
However, this comment got my goat.

Actually, JohnnyVegas, unless public officials live their entire lives cocooned in federal buildings, there are plenty of occasions where they'd be relatively easy to "knock them off", gun not required.
Unfortunately, his attitude is common since it's an emotional response rather than an intelligent one borne from logical thinking. I carry a concealed weapon practically everywhere I go, including playgrounds, churches, and parks and even places that serve alcohol. Why can I be trusted to carry there where I've shown time and time again that I am not going to just magically go insane and start killing people yet somehow when my foot crosses some imaginary boundary I'm considered a hairs breadth away from becoming a murderer?
