Boy Charged With Having Gun At Hillsborough High

TAMPA - A 15-year-old boy brought a .45-caliber handgun to Hillsborough High School today in an attempt to sell it, police say.

Kevin Brantley was arrested at the school, 5000 E. Central Ave.

His mother called Hillsborough High to report her son might have a gun, police said. The school was placed on lockdown for 90 minutes.

...

Brantley had not found a buyer for the weapon, which he stole from his girlfriend's house, police said.

We need to pressure our leaders into making more laws that prevent this kind of thing. Clearly, had the student been required to a) report that he stole the firearm and b) required a background check during recess then things like this would never happen. In fact, if we were to limit everyone to one gun a month, there would have been no way for this kid to steal a single handgun. Or something.

And THANK GOD they locked down the school! Nothing is more frustrating to an active shooter than to have his prey mobile and able to run away. No, it's better to pen all the victims up in easy to get to rooms where they can be slaughtered in place.

Finally, the janitor at the school needs to check the Gun Free Zone force field since it apparently failed.
