Someone needs to lose a few pounds
And thankfully this time it's not me We gave Gunner a bath last night and realized he's become a portly little sucker. Update - Just so y'all know, he's soaking wet in the picture above. Here's a side shot to illustrate how chunky he's gotten.

I had greater success rates in high school
This is a hoot. Brady background checks for 2006 - 8,209,900Total number of convictions from felons trying to buy guns - 73 That's a whopping 0.00009% I wonder if maybe, just maybe felons don't normally buy their guns from a retail store?

Neighbors
I've mentioned before my immediate neighbor liked guns and the house on the other side is for sale, but the previous owner was a gun owner as well. Two houses down from that one are some great people who had a little holiday get together last night and we dropped by and got to know some other neighbors. The gentleman that lives across the street from me doesn't own any guns, but expressed interest in learning, and I'm going to take him up on that opportunity (maybe finally score some points on...

No. Go drink some eggnog or something. Don't you have family you should be spending time with? Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Merry Christmas, all!

Notes from the front line
So, my cold is pretty much gone. Still have some sinus crunk to expel, but not feeling all that awful. I'm on vacation for two week. Woohoo! I need to hit the range at some point and that means I need to load some 10mm and the remaining .45ACP I have. I'm probably going to have to wait until mid Jan to purchase bulk 45 bullets. Why? Well, you see, I've been using my Hi-Def video camera for all sorts of things, and the Mrs. got onto me about editing the footage so I can send it around to the...

To all of my friends who are freezing
I'm in shorts. It's like in the low 80's. In fact, I took my daughters to go see Santa two nights ago. In shorts. You can come back and laugh at me during hurricane season, but until then, I'll just be in a light t-shirt, sipping iced tea to stay cool.

From bad to worse
This morning, at precisely 4 am, I woke up with a splitting migraine to go along with my cold. I got out of bed around 3:30 PM to grab a small bite to eat, then went back. Worst day in a long time. My migraines usually don't last that long, and at 9:10, I'm still feeling like crap. That would be why I've been quiet all day. Hopefully tomorrow will find me feeling better.

From outta nowhere
This morning, I woke up with a small tickle in my sinuses. By the time I'd finished my shower (the one rare time of the day that pants simply aren't necessary!) I knew the truth - I had managed to pick up a cold. By lunch time, I could barely move. Every last muscle in my body ached and my throat felt like I had gargled lava. I took off early and came home. Now, I feel like $#&*. Total, complete $*&(. If it's anything like a normal cold / flu for me, I'll feel decent by Friday and all...

Reaching for the stars
For my 10 year anniversary at work, we were given a catalog of "Crap you wouldn't re-gift to people you hate" and from there, I got a cheap ass Tasco telescope. It's tripod is made of the flimsiest plastic so that the soundwaves from your heartbeat cause it to vibrate and the optics are of the highest quality Saran wrap, ensuring that stars are generally a faint, blurry dot (don't even think about using the Barlow lens unless you like your stars to look like a cheap 3D comic that requires red...

Hunters who think nothing of selling out other's rights simply because they don't feel that certain classes of weapons are good enough for their sport are about to get a wake up call. Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan dismissed the notion hunting rifles and shotguns are not the type of weapons authorities need to be worried about, noting they can cause harm if poorly safeguarded or stolen by burglars. "Taking these off the streets is as important as the taking the handguns off the...

So, I've been eating oatmeal every morning, Cheerio's at night, avoiding deep fried foods, and drinking some plant extract crap that's supposed to actively remove cholesterol. In about 3 months, my cholesterol level has gone from 218 to 196. I'm now accustomed to my new diet so maintaining it shouldn't be a problem. I still get to eat 5 Guys burgers every here and there as well as wings and pizza, I'm just more cautious about eating them all the time. And I like Cheerio's, so that's not a...

Well then, there's no need for ammo serialization then
Fingerprints can be lifted even if you wipe down the firearm Researchers at the University of Leicester and the Northamptonshire police have teamed up to develop a technique to see fingerprints even if a metal surface has been wiped down. When people hold metal objects, the natural residues on their hands, like sweat, corrode metal surfaces. Their technique is particularly useful with cartridge casings, because the heat from shooting the weapon helps to imprint the fingerprints on the metal....

Love the search terms (I blanked out the school and address to protect the innocent) Now, with all the talk of some schools teaching their kids to fight back instead of simply giving in to an attack, I can see where this kind of search is apropos - Teacher - "Tommy, what do we do when a gunman enters the classroom"Little Tommy - "We grip 20% harder and aim three quarters high"
