So, this Sunday will see me shoot in my first IPSC competition, and literally only the 3rd time in my life that I'll be under a gun timer. The other two times I did fan-friggin'-tastic, but Todd Jarrett was holding my hand. Now I have to see if I can remember what he taught us.
During dry firing & magazine change practice on Wednesday, my weak hand completely slipped off the slide while trying to rack it and the now-deburred rear sight ripped off a chunk of my index finger which isn't healing very well. Hopefully that pain won't cause me to 'flinch' when racking the slide. I know the rest of the evening I had a hard time grasping the slide for mental reasons. That and the blood made things slipperyish.
Of course, like voting for Obama, my pistol will be going into this untested and without experience. I've yet to get it to the range after the double set of repairs AND I have two new magazines, one which I had to fix the spring on already (it was a feeding exercise to test the mag that I ripped my finger). I just *might* try to hit the range tonight or tomorrow, but I'm on call and the last thing I need is to spend all the $ at a range and only shoot through 3 mags and have to come home. But I'll be taking a chance one way or the other.
Any suggestions of things I might want to bring with me? I've got a big list of things to make sure I pack, but being a newbie, I'm open for suggestions.
Oh, I'll be doing my damndest to take video. Wish I had some decent video editing software. I own Premiere 5, but it won't run on Vista nor did it ever work with my digital video camera anyway...
