The topic of guns came up in this guy's class. He's almost there, but needs a little push. Let's show him what real Reasoned Discourse is, ok?

I have always thought the guns should be regulated like cars argument was stupid. Cars are far less regulated than guns, yet there is not one single portion of the COTUS that mentions cars.

As I pointed out in my comment, I would love for guns to be licensed liked cars. LawDog wrote the seminal post on that topic and provided him a link.

Hopefully he'll start to understand. He is approaching it from an academic environment and thus, limited exposure. A range trip would do much good for him.

Bearing arms for self-defense (or for hunting, or just for the hell of it) is a RIGHT, recognized and protected by the Constitution of the United States.
Driving a car...isn't.
