Rule #1 Always assume all scissors are razor sharp.

Rule #2 Never point scissors at anything you're not willing to see cut.

Rule #3 Keep your fingers out of the handle until you are ready to cut something.

Rule #4 Know what it is that you are cutting and what, if anything, you inadvertently picked up along with it and is now hiding underneath.

I taught my grandson to carry the sissors with the blades in his fist. That way they stay closed and the chance of injury lessened. Running is still not allowed but when they do there is some assurance the injury is lessened.
If only I could be like my Dad...
