In all the forums and all the places I've looked regarding loading of 45 ACP, a common theme is 4.6-5.5 grains of TiteGroup powder using CCI #300 primers.

Incidentally, for the 10mm I use TiteGroup powder and CCI #300 primers.

How lucky is that?

I recently got myself a Kimber 1911 in 10mm. I haven't shot it single-handed yet. Is it wise to do so? How much recoil can I expect? I know it kicks like a mule but I have to try. Any advice?

Which Kimber? The Target II?

I can shoot my G29 one handed just fine, and it's smaller and lighter, so I can imagine the recoil is generally better from a heavier pistol. Of course, it depends on your rounds too. I load 158gr, so if you go for the 185gr and push 'em harder, they'll kick worse.

Interesting. You won't find many of those powders, as far as I've seen. I've heard Accurate No. 7 is also good for .45 and 10mm. Accurate No. 9, which is what I use, is GREAT for 10mm, meters good and burns clean but too slow for .45.
OrangeNeck, I have a 10mm Kimber as well, a Stainless Target II. I haven't shot it one-handed, but I have driven loads through it at pretty decent MVs: 180-grainers at about 1200 fps and 155-grainers at 1370-1400 fps. Very manageable, I was surprised, considering what I'd heard about that round. The 175-grain Winchester Silvertips at about 1240 fps seemed to kick pretty hard, but as far as I can tell that's only because I'd been shooting the anemic Federal American Eagle loads through it immediately prior to that.

I have the Eclipse Target II in 10mm. I haven't seen any of the other 10mms you mention on their website. I've had mine fitted for an adjustable rear sight. I just ordered 1200 rounds of 180 grain ammo from Cabela's. With my club rewards points and a $4.95 flat rate shipping (promo), I'm paying under $500 for all this ammo. Estimated date of delivery is the 21st. I hope to be at the range or bowhunting that weekend on private property. Will have to try shooting one-handed.
