That I realize I did well by not watching the debates last night. Reaction from the 'sphere seems to be nothing new was learned, that McCain failed miserably to go on the offense, and that basically it's going to be President Obama come early next year.

Again, I wouldn't care if people wouldn't put such stock in the presidency, but they do.

If only the GOP hadn't chosen such a shitty candidate, I might feel compelled to help sell him, but it's hard to push someone when his biggest redeeming quality is that he's not Obama.

Hell, the Republicans have been fielding candidates where their only redeeming factors were that they were not the Democratic Party's candidate for at least the past two elections already. Why should they stop now?

McCain has been putting out a Bob Dole vibe since before the convention. Hero yes, but old and dull, dull, Zzzzzzz. Palin is a breath of fresh air and exciting to watch (not that way, well, yeah that way too). She does the Republican ticket what Tiger did for golf in the 90s. The problem is that people don't vote based on the bottom of the ticket.

So, we will elect Obama and hope that nobody does something so stupid that we end up with Biden.

I see 2 scenarios, each of which start out with Obama in the White House.

1. Obama is so overwhelmed trying to keep all his campaign promises, and failing miserably, that he can't focus his attention on gutting the 2A.

Yes, the general populace places way too much emphasis on who will be sitting in the oval office.

However, if we end up with a Democrat House and Senate and the enlightened one in the white house, I can see all kinds of new laws sailing through. At least if the pres was of the opposing party they'd have to get veto-proof majorities to push their agenda.

I see the filibuster as being our only hope of keeping the country from going down the turlett if Obie gets elected and the House and Senate stay Dem.
