Watching the USPSA match today, I got hyper-pumped. I'm dying to shoot now. I think I could handle myself ok in competition, I'll do fine in motion and feel confident I could knock down the steel pretty well.

My biggest concern with IPSC is that I have 4, 8-round magazines giving me a total of 32 (33 if I feed one first) shots. Some of the rounds required 32 minimum, and I'm not that good yet, so there'll need to be backups.

Para USA sells some 10 round, single stack 45 ACP magazines, but they're not marked for the TAC-S model that I have, so I wonder if they'd work or not. Midway has several models of 10-round magazines, all of which are twice as much as the 8 rounds :{ but again, I don't know if they'd work well in my pistol. I'll need to find that out.

I definitely see the difference between IDPA and IPSC shooting and I'm pretty sure I'm just going to shoot both, alternating months since I'm not going to be able to afford to feed my pistol if I went twice a month. I like the precision requirements behind what I saw today.

I was recognized by two people from the Down Range TV videos which was really friggin' cool. Everyone there was nice, but that's not a surprise. Most gunnies are some of the friendliest people around. I'm anxious to get started and become part of that crowd.

There's going to be a large learning curve for me. I watched each and every stage and had to mentally think my way through each one because reloading would have been a killer for me. I see a lot of things I need to practice as far as moving and getting into position quickly. I may have to set some things up in the back yard to practice (and wait for the MWAG call from the police ;), but I'm dying to get this going.

So, if anyone has any spare 45 ACP mags they simply don't need any more, feel free to donate them to a  worthy cause - me.
