GTI

OK, so with my Jeep washing it meant driving it in the rain. I don't think I had even ran it through an auto wash in years.

Anyone got any tips on keeping my GTI looking brand new?

Carnauba wax. Weekly. Especially in Florida's sun.

Additionally, if VW's paint is as crappy as Mazda's, I would strongly recommend Rock Blocker. Seriously regretting that at this point.

Otherwise, stick it in a garage and never drive it :).

You're gonna have to spend money to get it washed. I know, Beth doesn't get it either. The only time she ever washes her jeep is when it is muddy enough that you can't tell it is a jeep. And we haven't been off-roading since we moved to Florida.

You should wax your new car regularly though. Jeeps don't need wax, but little girlie ass-draggers do :)

First, use regularly quality products like those from Griot's Garage or Autopia. (Griot's sells an inexpensive book on how to care for your car; it's a good guide if you don't have experience.) Second, get some of the clear vinyl adhesive installed on the leading edges of the hood, bumpers, side mirrors, etc. It'll prevent paint chips from small stones and acidic bug guts.

Hands down best stuff you can use.

Meguiars 3 step.
1 = Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
2 = Deep Crystal Polish
3= Gold Class Wax.

I've never seen a black car look better than after using this stuff.

Right now, the computer is telling me I'm getting 29.4mpg on average.

And I've been driving it... uh.... aggressively.

Brass tacks here: Soap and water, but to be honest my truck has never seen the inside of a garage inside of 7 years, and hasn't seen a soapy sponge in near a year, and my neighbor keeps asking if I just washed it.

There's some scary devil-magic in that modern clearcoat. With any luck VeeDub got it as right as Ford.

Meguiar's everything. Soft diapers. Chamois. Wash and wax regularly IN THE SHADE.

Strongly consider a half-bra (hood only). Look for rocker-panel protective stuff - usually clear vinyl strips. And consider adding splash guards. They look dumb, but they keep rock chips off.
