That has been a powerful tool in my arsenal (pun somewhat intended). I talk with people and when they find out I'm not only a gun owner but an enthusiast to boot, they're taken aback that they know me and can't automatically discount me as some nut.
I always assure them they are safe around me as 9 out of 10 voices in my head like them.
