Oh Lord, it simply doesn't get any more Pants Shittiness than this.
The gun-control activist whose provocative billboards have been turning heads along the Massachusetts Turnpike for 13 years today will unveil one of his most eye-popping messages yet - a fake neon advertisement for American gun shows where people can buy weapons, no questions asked. "We Sell Guns! No ID required. No background checks. Criminals and terrorists welcome!" the billboard peals. "Gun shows are the equivalent of Al Qaeda terrorists walking directly onto the airplane while you and I wait in the TSA line," John Rosenthal, founder and chairman of Stop Handgun Violence, said in a recent interview. "They don't want us to go on airplanes but they let Al Qaeda buy guns unprotected."

Here's a funny thing - it's a fake billboard because it's a lie. You know, like terrorists getting their guns, something that has never been proven because the numbers simply aren't there.
At 5,000 gun shows in 32 states, people can buy guns without undergoing a background check or being asked for identification, according to Stop Handgun Violence. Though dealers at gun shows are federally licensed and are required to contact the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, private sellers can trade guns unchecked in those states. ed - emphasis mine
Notice how they have to preface the truth with a lie to try to mislead you? Licensed dealers, which make up the bulk of gun shows, still have to run a background check. The vast majority of private sellers at gun shows are selling rabbit jerky, bowie knives, Airsoft replicas, gun safes, Ron Paul, and Concealed Weapon Badges.
And those who walk in to sell their wares? Private sales. Has nothing to do with the gun show outside of that being a convenience. I can sell my arsenal to whomever I damned well please, a gun show isn't necessary for that. And that's what bigots like John Rosenthal want to stop - private sales. They're just too cowardly to admit it because they need to lie through their teeth in order to get people to buy into their ideas.
Then, the article speaks of Jim Wallace, executive director of the Gun Owners Action League, in a rather negative light
He opposes the idea of asking people for background checks or identification at gun shows, even if they are suspected terrorists listed on a terrorist watch list.
So do I. Suspected terrorists are not convicted terrorists. That list contains a million plus names which would mean that one in every 300 people are terrorists. Senators have been placed on the list. I'm all about innocent until proven guilty, but I guess that's not "progressive" enough for some people these days. However, that didn't stop the writer from making it seem like Mr. Wallace was ok with selling Achmed Splodeydope a cache of 50 BMGs.
John Rosenthal is a flaming douche-bag. He is a liar, a fraud, and a coward. Apparently, like Josh Sugarmann and Paul Helmke, it's a requirement for being an anti-gun bigot.
