Mechanic called. Wife's car needed a new radiator.

$700 makes quite the wooshing sound when it leaps out of your bank account...

Umm, I work in the auto repair industry and have for over 12 years. How does a radiator replacement cost 700 bucks? You might want to get another estimate. Just sayin'.....

I agree with Sean. $700 for a radiator? But then again, you may own a car where they have to lift the engine out to get to it.

Parts and labor. This place is a little more than most shops, but they've yet to do me wrong. In fact, they forgot to add the differential service into the estimate and since we're long time customers, just didn't worry about it.

So, unless you think a new radiator with all the hoses and stuff could be purchased and installed for <$600, I don't think I've gotten a bad deal.

Sometimes, it's worth extra money to know you've been taken care of.

I'll trade you. At 270,000 miles, my 1997 Saturn SW2 said enough was enough. Lost the whole electrical system with a broken piston ring thrown in for good measure. I now have a Vue. And a car payment, for the first time in over a decade.

That SW2 sure took me on a lot of happy gun-school trips.

Good thing this happened after I finished paying for my custom Wilson Combat.

hecate, my Wrangler just flipped 170,000 miles. Still has a long ways to go too. I bet I get to 250,000 at least before she calls it quits.

At least I hope so. This not having a car payment thing is nice.
