Ah, Father's Day! My girls both made me little foam posters and got me a coffee mug with with their picture on it. I'll have to remember to take a snapshot of it later for y'all.

I also went to the range. I took the Ultimate Cliploader on its maiden voyage and oddly, it works better with the Remington Thunderbolts than it does the Golden Bullets. It works fine with both, but it tends to take a little more "pumping" with the GB's. No big deal. It definitely helped me shoot a hell of a lot more ammo. Had it not been for the fact that one of the rifle ranges cleared up I'd have probably shot an entire brick.

I hadn't fired the Ruger in quite some time. My first target at 7 yards was impressive. I literally had to change the target because there wasn't anything left of the black center. Apparently Sarah Brady was having fits of hysteria after that one. Once I moved out to 10 yards, I opened up a little more than I should have. I didn't quite get into that 'Zen' state, but I attributed that to lack of practice.

Funny thing is that I tend to get all irritated when I miss. Then I look at other people's targets and don't feel so bad.

Shot the 6.8 too. I get a lot of comments on it which is neat. The regular AR guys are surprised at the sound, non AR people seem to like it as well. The guys shooting next to me were popping off .300 Win Mags which were quite impressive. I could tell they were a little put off by a guy with an AR shooting next to them, but I think they were expecting me to spray all over the place and seemed to be a little more interested when I was shooting evenly.

At 50 yards I did pretty good. I don't like my red / green dot sight, that's for sure. At 50 yards, the dot pretty much obscures the target, at 100 I can't see crap. Because of that, it's difficult to see if I'm on the bulls eye or not, and the groupings definitely show that. At 100, I at least hit the paper, but only put 2 in the center. The good news is I only lost one case. Still need a brass catcher, but at least it wasn't like last time where a good 10% of my cases went into the netherworld.

I need a sling, though, if I want to shoot better. I need something to brace against. And, unfortunately, I think a better trigger is going to be a requirement. The break is simply too stiff for me as it stands right now. Any recommendations on decent triggers would be appreciated.

Nice glass is definitely a want right now, but a want, nonetheless.

Still, it was a great day at the range!
