It's official. The Mrs. has been nagged into submission finally understood my desire to pick up an EBR before McHillBama gets into office and has given me the green light.
I have decided on a Ko-Tonics KT68 16" inch SPR w/ Specter Tube Forend in 6.8SPC, mostly due to Sebastian and Uncle's recommendations.
I was planning on going the cheap route, but even the most precursory reading told me that what I was looking at was junk and would have cost more in the long run. To this I'm adding the bolt carrier group, basic charging handle, and a Armalite muzzle brake (for $4 more, it looks nicer than the standard A2 Flash suppressor plus, is a muzzle brake!).
For the lower...eh, I dunno. The local gun store has a Bushmaster lower, trigger, grip, and Vltor stock for $350. They're having a sale this weekend, plus I can get a discount, and I'll haggle. If I can get it below $300, I'm buying it. The only thing is that the lower is stamped with .223. That's not important, but kind of would be nice for no real reason whatsoever.
No sites as I'm slapping on a cheap Red / Green dot scope. If there's no magnification, I have no problem buying cheap dots.
Magazines can be bought locally. 30 round Barretts for $37. 25 round C Mags for $25.
I'm planning on buying a bunch of Silver State Armory 6.8. I hear their brass is excellent, so factory loads will give me an idea of what I'm aiming for in my reloads, I'll be able to start shooting right away, and I can keep the brass. That should give me a 100 to start with which should be more than enough.
PLUS! My wonderful wife thinks I should go ahead and renew my range membership for the year. I have a sneaky suspicion she wants something, but at this point, it's hers, whatever it might be (and no, it's not another kid. That ain't happening, Dr. Snips has ensured that!).
I'm getting very, very, very excited.
