Sorry this didn't get posted last night. I was too busy bowling with the Wii. Damn my shoulder hurts.
Anyway, the last thing I wanted to discuss about my range trip two nights ago was something I noticed about other people's shooting (and something I found myself doing earlier in my shooting career). I call it metronome shooting.
So many people seem to shoot on a schedule rather then when they're on the bull's-eye. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. It's like a clock ticking. You can actually anticipate their next shot with remarkable accuracy. And it's very, very, very common.
So the other night, I took a little break (well, actually, I was reloading the magazines) and I watched the targets of the people metronome shooting. Accuracy was terrible, but I could tap my fingers in time with their shots.
Now I remember doing this and to an extent, I think I still do a bit (it's just that I'm getting better at keeping the sight on the target so the timing is ok). But I wonder how many people pull the trigger in rhythm rather than pulling when they're on target? Anecdotal, I know, but just the other night when I was paying attention to it, it seemed like quite a few people shoot this way (excluding the "Hey baby, watch me unload 10 rounds into the floor in 3 seconds" idiots).
I'm asking all my shooter-readers to do a little research for me. The next time you go to the range, listen to see how many people shoot like this. If you can, check out their accuracy (see if you do the same thing too). Then let me know your findings.
