Uncle points to the greatest concentration of misinformation ever contained within a written article.

Fisking this article would be like eating celery. It requires more energy to chew it up than you get from digestion - i.e. a losing proposition.

But let's take a little stab at it, shall we?

First, it is true that the assault weapons banned under the federal law that lapsed in 2004 were, like many hunting rifles, semi-automatic that is, firing a bullet with each pull of the trigger (fully automatic weapons have been strictly regulated since 1934). But they differed from hunting weapons because they were designed expressly for military use, possessing distinctive traits including being lighter weight, having shorter barrels, collapsible stocks, pistol or thumb-hole grips, flash suppressors and other, similar features to facilitate spray fire hardly a useful sporting activity.

Not a single one of those traits support "spray firing". What supports "spray firing" is pulling the trigger repeatedly and rapidly. Tell me how a piece of metal with holes in it designed to throw the fire in a direction that won't ruin a shooter's night sight going to help spray? Tell me how a thumb hole facilitates spraying? Being lighter makes the firearm recoil harder, thus making "spraying" less accurate - I've watched plenty of people fire automatics and most of the rounds hit the floor or ceiling.

Less noticed about the assault weapons ban was the fact that the law also barred possession of ammunition clips capable of holding more than 10 bullets, a feature especially attractive to criminals and superfluous for any legitimate hunting or sporting purpose (notably, the Virginia Tech shooter used two guns with large-capacity bullet clips). When the ban lapsed, so did this restriction.

Magazines, dude. Nothing shows firearm ignorance more than calling a magazine a clip. And the ban didn't ban possession, only the manufacture of. You could still buy them by the truckload.

I can't go on. I have a life to live. This is standard fare for the antis. I can't tell if it's outright lying, sheer stupidity, or a lethal combination of both.
