Well, linking to Carolyn McCarthy is bound to produce PSH but ABC does nonetheless
On the eve of the 14th anniversary of her husband's death at the hands of crazed gunman on a Long Island Railroad train, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy went to the house floor on December 6th to talk about another senseless shooting, this one at a mall in Omaha, Nebraska. "Yesterday's shootings was a terrible tragedy. But unfortunately events like this happen almost every day. Every year we lose over 30,000 people to GUN VIOLENCE. Take a second to think about that. Every year, 30,000 victims. I have been here for 11 YEARS. That is 330,000 people that have been killed because of gun violence while i was in Congress. When you put that into perspective, THAT IS THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA. Three hundred and thirty thousand victims."

Maybe because McCarthy doesn't know what she's talking about? She can't even identify the parts of the guns she's trying to ban.
Maybe because she is lying about the number of deaths from Gun Violence? The CDC shows, for 2004, only 11,624 homicide related deaths. If you count suicide then you can get near 30,000, but that's not exactly "gun violence". Also, the numbers are much smaller when you take out justified homicide.
Maybe because crime is crime and you don't solve the problem by blaming the tool? Plenty of other people died by various other methods and I'm sure their families aren't comforted by the fact their loved ones weren't killed with a bullet (the gun doesn't do the killing, BTW).
Maybe, and just maybe, people are waking up to the lies of gun control. No law you can put in place will make criminals give up and stop stealing guns. No matter how many hoops you make us law abiding citizens jump through, it will not deter criminals since they won't follow the rules.
