So I had to take my wife's car to get a carwash this afternoon. Knowing it took a while to do, I took along my copy of Florida Firearms Law, Use & Ownership to read.

image On the cover of the book is a big scary gun. It's so scary that when I stepped out of my vehicle to give the attendant my keys and my carwash preference, he jumped back and yelped.

Then he realized it was just a picture on a book, and yet still kept his distance, his eyes fixated on the cover.

He nervously asked me if I was studying for my permit. I informed him I already had it and was just brushing up on the laws regarding firearms.

Usually, when I go to this place, they constantly try to push you into a waxing or a detail job. This guy couldn't get rid of me fast enough (he didn't even ask me what type of air freshener I wanted).

When I went inside I paid, then sat down, holding the book up at an angle where I could both read it and see outside where my car would be.

The lady next to me looked like she saw a ghost. She got up and moved a few seats down.

This is what our society has gotten to, people. People are afraid of pictures of guns on books. I've never wanted to open carry so bad in my life, if only to (metaphorically) slap some people around and hope to knock some sense into them. It's pathetic to fear such things.
