Gun Myths

Jake Drew:

They don’t make me feel safer. The actually do make me safer. Feelings have nothing to do with it.

I left a comment, but it wasn't published. Maybe Jake just didn't get around to it or that my single incident proves him absolutely wrong.

I will never go into details because it was not a pleasant experience and nothing to boast of, but I personally have defended my own life using a firearm. No shots fired, and the attackers fled. No more detail needed.

For me, the gun saved my life. If that doesn't define safe, then I don't know what does.

However, I have a feeling that people like Jake won't accept anything as an answer since it doesn't fit within his world view. So in closing, I will repost my challenge to Jake.

How would have being disarmed made me safer when I had several individuals threatening to kill me?

You know the answer to that question: you would be safer if NOBODY had a gun. Which we can achieve if we just pass enough laws. Sure, you could make up all these straw-man scenarios, like, what if a bunch of people want to attack me, or what if I'm old or feeble, etc. But we all know it's GUNS what causes crime.

The problem Thibodeaux is that I can't discern if your comment is parody or real. The anti-gunners have become parodies of themselves and they can't see it.

Reading the comment that you quoted, I get the feeling that he is not anti-gun. He pointed out that by owning a gun it doesn't matter whether he feels safer or not, because he actually IS safer.

At least that's my $.02 worth.

Frank - Uncle is pro gun. He links to stories that actually prove you're safer carrying. Jake was the one asking how a gun can make you feel safe.

I need to modify my page to accept quotes inside of quotes so you can see the differences better.
