This is sickening. This advertisement illustrates what is wrong with corporate America today. What company uses fear to push unnecessary products like these? Click for full size:

Do you get the message here, kids? "You might live too far away for the fire department to save you so take matters into your own hands by purchasing our fire extinguishers". I cannot explain how revolted I am by this ad.

No person should ever attempt to put out a fire unless they are adequately trained and certified by the state. Period. Giving people "fire extinguishers" will make them gung-ho about their "personal security". I would say that these extinguishers might also cause people to go out and look for fires.

The average citizen can do no better than to call 911 and simply let those who are trained in fire fighting take care of the problem. Granted, sometimes the phone is located between you and the fire, so in instances like these it is best to simply comply with the fire. Fighting the fire will only make it more angry and increase the possibility that you could be hurt.

</end sarcasm>

So. Think 911 is the best defense between you and someone hell bent on harming you?

How about this creation of mine, then?

And here's the kicker. According to most of the anti-gun nuts out there, this is a perfectly acceptable risk to take.

How about you?
