So, Monday night I went to the new range in town to unload several hundred round or so. When you own firearms, you have a responsibility to keep yourself "well regulated". I can't force you to do so, have no desire to make laws that require you to, but I can strongly encourage each and every gun owner to make a trip to the range at least several times a year (go three times and you'll have practiced more than most cops!).

So, doing my duty to stay regulated (not to be confused with "keeping the morning duty regular") I popped on over with the .357, the .22 and the 10mm.

I am not kidding when I say I think that at 100 yards or less, I am completely lethal with my 22. At 100 yards, I out 7 out of 10 rounds in the 8" black circle, and this is open sites (no fancy scope for me). 2 of the 10 were within 1/2" (one was completely off). At 50 yards I simply ripped out the center two rings and at 25 there was nothing left of the innermost dot.

Next came the .357 Magnum. If I don't hit you with the bullet, the concussion should do the trick. My accuracy with both hands is very good, strong hand only is fairly good (I hit where I was aiming within two inches or so), off hand is good enough (target hit, maybe not lethal but hit none the less) but I did miss a few shots.

Now for the bad news. If I pull my Glock on you and aim at your head, cover your crotch. I shot consistently low all night and developed a flinch. My trigger isn't very smooth and kept "catching" at the rear forcing me to apply a jerk. Because I had to force the trigger to make the gun go pop, I developed a slight flinch which kept my accuracy down. I plan on either having someone do a 25¢ trigger job or just do it myself.

I shouldn't get too hard on myself, my shots pretty much landed on target, just not where on the target I intended, which to me is a 'miss'.

Anyway, with the new reloading press I plan on making more rounds so that I can shoot more often to get more practice. Well regulated indeed!
