My congressman is Adam Putnam. I pay close attention to his actions, and regularly check on his voting records. I do most of this proactively by signing up for email alerts and the such. I have regularly emailed him on various occasions, recently over the Kelo decision. And I always get a reply. You can see the form letter base, but it’s usually customized to my particular request. Regardless if Mr. Putnam himself is reading them all, at least I know my concerns are making their way up there.
I also stay on his email listings, again as a way to try to stay a little proactive. I received this today.

In addition, the National Guard has nearly 11,000 Guardsmen to assist with the growing need for security and other disaster response efforts.We are also continuing efforts to ensure that adequate food, water, shelter and medical supplies are provided to survivors. I readily admit I’m cynical to just about anything that comes out of a politician’s mouth, but Congressman Putnam has always held a slight bit more respect out of me. And for all the carping the libertarian in me does about our government, it should always be remembered that it is intended to serve our best interests.
I’ve been determining how much my family can donate and actively doing so. A friend at work and his wife are cancelling their 12th anniversary celebration night out this weekend and instead helping others. I hope you are helping as well.
