Houston, we have beer!

Smooth. Full flavored. A little light on the body for an IPA. No after taste whatsoever. Easy drinkability. Low alcohol due to the low original / final gravities. Still, not bad at all for a first try!

I'm chalking this one up as a success.

It's not that hard. I got a head start by reading everything I could possibly get my hands on. Once you understand how beer works, making it is simple. Then again, even if you don't know, it's simple.

I got my entire setup including bottles and IPA kit for around $100, and that's everything brand spanking new. I spent a few buck extra for a bottle cleaner, brushes, and a nice hydrometer holder since the case the hydrometer came in sucked.

Now the hardest thing is going to be waiting until I can brew more!

Congratulations! I've only made wine, and I'm dying to try beer next. I didn't know a kit was so inexpensive.

Tanya, you probably can reuse a lot of your winemaking gear.

The kit I bought was $56. It contained 2 6.5 gallon food grade buckets, siphoning hoses, racking cane, capper, lid, airlock, a gross of bottlecaps, b-brite sanitizer, and a few other knick-knacks I'm forgetting about. The bottles are $13 a case and I needed 2 of those. $30 for ingredients (and that was a kit, you can do it a little cheaper if you know what you're aiming for) and we're at $112.

Now, I also bought a turkey frier to boil the wort ($30 on amazon) but if you're doing extract brews, it's perfectly ok to use a stove.
