The comments are telling, as "Wingnuts" are dismissed as 'non sentient', a great method of making one's enemies sub human. People who supported slavery did the same thing to blacks, as do jihadists for the same reasons. Anyway, the main thrust is that some HSA CEO stole money (which is illegal) and therefore HSA's are bad ideas. For whatever reason, most articles hatin' on HSA's seem to...

"I am drained from these shootings, the feeling of helplessness they bring, the fear they create which hangs over every campus like a dark cloud, and the net cast out for causes which always comes back empty of solutions. I get so tired of the stick figures they put on the screens these days. Give me a woman with a little heft and I'd take it over any twig with plastic tits any day. Well, if I weren't married. Why shouldn't we require licensing for having children? Nobody would be "denied" having children, but you'd have to take courses, pass a mental competence test, waive your 4th amendment rights from time to time for surprise inspections and have 20,000 laws which dictate exactly how you may raise your children - laws which differ from county to county, state to state and pay a fee that has to be renewed from time to time (only several hundred dollars). It is considered "reasonable" to restrict 2A rights when the "greater good" is served. Law abiding citizens are told that it is in their best interest if they are closely monitored when purchasing firearms, licensed to do so, registration, fees, etc. since these "reasonable infringements" will somehow lower the number of guns in the hands of those who would use them with ill intent. The justification for this is that we have a crime problem. Some of that crime is committed with a firearm. And...

I've been reading "Free to Choose" by Milton Friedman and what he said over 20 years ago is just as true today, and I can see we've completely ignored his wisdom.  The problem is that Milton recognized that freedom and Free Market Capitalism are intricately linked. Since we've been brainwashed that looking out for yourself is considered "greed", we've raised generations of people who don't like the Free Market. What they don't understand that is to get rid of it is to remove the freedom that...

So here in my lovely home state of Florida, land of hurricanes, hanging chads, and feeding tubes, Jeb Bush* is preparing to sign into law a bill that allows me to protect myself if attacked. This is akin to signing in a law that allows me to shit after a good meal. Seriously. The current law states that, in the case I am attacked in public, I am to make like Brave Sir Robbin and run away. Which is a good idea if you’re Superman and can outrun a speeding bullet but a rather silly notion...

Ramblings' Journal: Why go nuts regulating cornrows? Hair dye is hardly a serious safety threat, but even if it were, Cornrows & Co. didn't dye or perm hair. They only braided it. That didn't matter, said the Cosmetology Board -- they still had to get a license. In order to get one, Uqdah would have to pay about $5,000 to take more than 1,000 hours of courses at a beauty school. I hate the whole concept of ‘licensing’ for businesses. Licenses are nothing more than a barrier...

Anyway, while I understood that stem cells had vast potential to change medicine, I found the method used to gain them was repulsive. Using harvested fetuses is, in my opinion, immoral.
